Poem: “Tomorrow Comes and Then Another”

Tomorrow Comes and Then Another

Father, my Father, the God of my heart,
What is it you want of me?
What is it that you ask of this flock?

Your mystery is before me
Through all my days and nights.
I come always to adore you,
But what do you want with my life?

You have prepared me, this I know.
You have taught me your solemn truths.
You have shown me the way of the heart,
But still I find no roots

Tomorrow comes and then another,
And wait, and wait I must
For the message to come from the Lord my God,
What to do with the rest of my life.

I know that I am ready.
I can feel it deep within me,
But I know not for what I’m prepared,
Or when in fact it will be.

I wait patiently upon you Lord,
For Yours is the perfect time.
I wait patiently upon you Lord,
For whatever it will be.

I live my days, but there is no rest,
For deep inside me is yearning,
To go and do what you ask of me,
Whenever it pleases you.

I ask you again this one more time,
What do you want of me?
In faith I believe You heard me clear,
And my answer is close at hand.

Until that time, I adore You Lord,
With all that I am and can be.
Until that time when I serve You Lord,
I’m as ready, as ready can be.
