Miss Kim, For You
Miss Kim, Miss Kim my hardy Lilac bush,
Fragrant blossoms perfume not my garden this spring.
A Southern summer singed your leaves, scorched your roots
While acrid smells distracted my senses.
Your fragile petals, confetti-like
Fluttered to the earth,
Butterflies your only lingering audience.
Your nectar they miss, this season.
The promise of Lilac Love, Miss Kim
Permeates my senses, in memories only.
Oh! But for distractions,
Mere whiffs of Bradfordpear-like stench,
You would overflow bud vases on my bathroom vanities.
In vain I nurtured the pain of a soul’s drought.
Forgetting you, Miss Kim,
Promise of my Nard-incensed eternity.
Miss Kim, Miss Kim you were a sojourner in a foreign land.
Your mistress abandoned you…
You clung to the false promise
Of such a thing as a Hardy Lilac.
But I, I knew better.
Through indifference I let you wither.
You paid my price.
He paid mine!
I am His Ginger tree,
Longing for His breeze.
Bending my reeds,
Opening my pink blossoms,
Kissing His sustaining finger tips.
Myrrh perfumes my garden,
For a time.
Ginger yields its treasure, it’s fragrance ,
Only when the knife of His Will
Sculpts you, Miss Kim,
Flourishing in fertile soil,
Watered with tears…
