Just down the Texas highways from me live Kevin McCormick and his daughter Rachel. A mutual friend introduced us, and I learned that Kevin and Rachel has just completed a Christmas album full of classic hymns and songs.
The result is an endlessly listenable arrangement of beautiful Christmas favorites: “The First Noel” to “Silent Night” to “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming,” and more. Kevin plays guitar and his daughter sings, but they also perform duets and pure instrumentals on the tracks.
I broke my rule of no Christmas music just so I could listen to their CD and see if I could recommend it to others. And I certainly can; it’s been playing in a loop for hours each day. The songs are simply done and lovely; no pomp and circumstance that so often accompanies these tunes when done by big-time singers. Yet the music and production quality are professional.
So, add a great new album to Christmas rotation and support the work of a talented father-daughter team!
